16 months and growing like a weed

~16 Months Old ~

Such a little man........

Loves his new table and chairs, I found at a garage sale

Relaxing in the bucket, after he pulled all of his books out of it (it's hard work being the "Texas Tornado"
And so VERY independent- here's the break down on how our little man is doing
~ 19 pounds and 30 inches long, he's lost a little weight since he started walking, but is still eating like a horse so we're not to concerned about his weight.
~Has completely out grown his size 4 shoes (we just bought him a few months ago)
~ Is wearing 18-24 month shirts, 12 month shorts and pajama's (although, those are getting a little tight)
~Eats with a fork really well, and has almost mastered the spoon
~ Understands when you say "time to go night night".... he drops what he is doing and runs for the stairs
~Climbs the stairs all by himself, and gets mad if you don't let him
~ Now knows that milk, water and food come from the fridge, and will go there when he's hungry or thirsty
~ Has developed the start of the "terrible twos" he likes to throw things (especially at the dogs) and seems to enjoy hitting them as well. Luckily, the dogs are tolerating this phase. ( at least I hope this is just a very short phase that we are going through)
~ Still has a very limited list of words, but he understands what you ask him really well. We've been really working on the basic words with lots of repeating and pointing to pictures, so hopefully one day soon he will just explode with his vocabulary.
~ Loves the water, and could play all day in it if we would let him
~ Has started to climb on the furniture
~ Seems to be leaning more towards being a "right" handed person. He holds his fork and spoon with his right hand, and tends to throw with the right. Although, he likes to hold crayons with his left.
~And is still gracing us with 2 naps a day. An hour to an hour in a half in the morning, and 3 hours in the afternoon. Yay, for us !!!!

Everyday is a new adventure for all of us, and we wouldn't change it for the world. The past 16 months have been the best and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.

Peach Pickin

Several weeks ago, we jumped onto the "Texas Band Wagon" and ventured out to pick our own peaches. About an hour or so out side of San Antonio is a little town called Fredericksburg. Such a neat little town to poke around in the shops, sample the amazing fudge and have a really good lunch at a local diner. Anyway, this quite little town is also know for it's Peach Orchards. Not sure what we were getting into, we headed out for a morning drive and peach picking.
Rows and Rows of peach tree's.. and one huge box to fill. It took us about an hour to pick and fill our box with about 25 pounds of peaches.
Hunter along for the ride, what a little trooper he was. It was super hot that morning, and not much a breeze
A photo of our prize winning peaches !!!!!!  The whole purpose of our trip was to get the peaches and can them. It was a little scary, at first by several phone calls to my Mom for directions and WaLa..... we successfully canned 25 pounds of peaches !!!! We still haven't tried them, so hopefully they taste as good as they did fresh.  WOW ~ it was a lot harder, and time consuming than I ever thought it was going to be. So only the future will tell, if we do this again.

Sea World

So this past week, Hunter and I made our first trip to Sea World with a good friend from Houston and her kiddos. The temperatures were HOT, but we had a great time exploring the park. When we set out that morning I didn't think we would make it past noon. I got Hunter up earlier than normal that morning, thinking I could put him down for a little morning nap before heading out. Well, that planned back fired, as Hunter had other plans. He played in his crib for over an hour, then fell asleep 20 minutes before we had to leave.
Amazingly, he did so well. He sat on my lap during the shows, played in the water parks, and not one melt down all day. We actually stayed until about 4:30 that afternoon. Much longer than I had planned, but he was having so much fun, and I was just in awe of the moment.
I must admit, watching Hunter during the Shamu show, I got a little teary eyed. His eyes were just a big as big could be watching  "all" the Shamu's. He was pointing when they did tricks and clapped when everyone else clapped. All I could think about at that moment was, "so this is what being a parent is all about"
One of many Shamu's they have here in San Antonio. I think we counted 5 and a little baby. All named Shamu
Like I said, it was HOT that day. We sat in the splash zone, and didn't even get a drop.

I was trying so hard to get a picture of Hunter looking at me, while in front of the whale, but he was totally focused on the two stuffed penguins that had just walked by.
Feeding the dolphins. Hunter was good from a safe distance, but didn't like it to much when I tried to lay him on the wall for a closer view. Maybe next time.....
Ewwwww,  stinky fish for the dolphins
Happy Dolphin just ate the stinky fishy
We're already planning our next trip.......

First Hair Cut

lovin on his Shamu stuffy he got at Sea World ~ on our way to get a haircut
That moment in time, I personally had been dreading finally arrived. The "first" haircut. It felt like in one snip on the scissors my "baby" was gone.... But after settling into the fact that it really needed to be done, I was okay with the idea, and actually had fun watching my "little peanut" become a our "little man"
He did so well, only fussed a few times while the lady tried to put the smock on him, then he wiggled around  a few times then sat still and did a great job. Luckily, we don't have any holes in the hair from a sudden jerk, and most importantly no melt downs. Yay, for a successful trip to the barber.
Hanging with Daddy, before the haircut
 One last "before" picture
Beep Beep..... this one is for Grandpa Steffen
The first snip...... No turning back now, bye bye baby, hello little man !!!!
What is this lady doing to me...... make her stop
Yep, we really did need this haircut. The mowhawk had to go
 Almost done.......
Ta Da...... Don't I look handsome..... Beep, beep....
