Peach Pickin

Several weeks ago, we jumped onto the "Texas Band Wagon" and ventured out to pick our own peaches. About an hour or so out side of San Antonio is a little town called Fredericksburg. Such a neat little town to poke around in the shops, sample the amazing fudge and have a really good lunch at a local diner. Anyway, this quite little town is also know for it's Peach Orchards. Not sure what we were getting into, we headed out for a morning drive and peach picking.
Rows and Rows of peach tree's.. and one huge box to fill. It took us about an hour to pick and fill our box with about 25 pounds of peaches.
Hunter along for the ride, what a little trooper he was. It was super hot that morning, and not much a breeze
A photo of our prize winning peaches !!!!!!  The whole purpose of our trip was to get the peaches and can them. It was a little scary, at first by several phone calls to my Mom for directions and WaLa..... we successfully canned 25 pounds of peaches !!!! We still haven't tried them, so hopefully they taste as good as they did fresh.  WOW ~ it was a lot harder, and time consuming than I ever thought it was going to be. So only the future will tell, if we do this again.

Sea World

So this past week, Hunter and I made our first trip to Sea World with a good friend from Houston and her kiddos. The temperatures were HOT, but we had a great time exploring the park. When we set out that morning I didn't think we would make it past noon. I got Hunter up earlier than normal that morning, thinking I could put him down for a little morning nap before heading out. Well, that planned back fired, as Hunter had other plans. He played in his crib for over an hour, then fell asleep 20 minutes before we had to leave.
Amazingly, he did so well. He sat on my lap during the shows, played in the water parks, and not one melt down all day. We actually stayed until about 4:30 that afternoon. Much longer than I had planned, but he was having so much fun, and I was just in awe of the moment.
I must admit, watching Hunter during the Shamu show, I got a little teary eyed. His eyes were just a big as big could be watching  "all" the Shamu's. He was pointing when they did tricks and clapped when everyone else clapped. All I could think about at that moment was, "so this is what being a parent is all about"
One of many Shamu's they have here in San Antonio. I think we counted 5 and a little baby. All named Shamu
Like I said, it was HOT that day. We sat in the splash zone, and didn't even get a drop.

I was trying so hard to get a picture of Hunter looking at me, while in front of the whale, but he was totally focused on the two stuffed penguins that had just walked by.
Feeding the dolphins. Hunter was good from a safe distance, but didn't like it to much when I tried to lay him on the wall for a closer view. Maybe next time.....
Ewwwww,  stinky fish for the dolphins
Happy Dolphin just ate the stinky fishy
We're already planning our next trip.......

First Hair Cut

lovin on his Shamu stuffy he got at Sea World ~ on our way to get a haircut
That moment in time, I personally had been dreading finally arrived. The "first" haircut. It felt like in one snip on the scissors my "baby" was gone.... But after settling into the fact that it really needed to be done, I was okay with the idea, and actually had fun watching my "little peanut" become a our "little man"
He did so well, only fussed a few times while the lady tried to put the smock on him, then he wiggled around  a few times then sat still and did a great job. Luckily, we don't have any holes in the hair from a sudden jerk, and most importantly no melt downs. Yay, for a successful trip to the barber.
Hanging with Daddy, before the haircut
 One last "before" picture
Beep Beep..... this one is for Grandpa Steffen
The first snip...... No turning back now, bye bye baby, hello little man !!!!
What is this lady doing to me...... make her stop
Yep, we really did need this haircut. The mowhawk had to go
 Almost done.......
Ta Da...... Don't I look handsome..... Beep, beep....

To Cute, Not to Post

It may look like an early start to celebrating the Forth of July, but we were actually heading out for a "Mad Hatter" play date. Everyone was required to wear some sort of silly hat. I must say I was really not looking forward to this one, but once I found our hats and we saw all the other "crazy" mommies and kiddo's it was really fun.  Hunter is just like his mama and doesn't like to keep his hats on, but this crazy hat stayed on the entire play date.
A few weeks ago, we made a weekend trip to Houston for a Birthday party and our much needed dose of Houston. It's crazy to think about how much we talked about always wanting to get out of Houston, and now we can't wait for our weekend trips back. Although, we have settled into life in San Antonio, we still miss what we had in Houston. The picture above was taken at the Birthday party which was outside on a very hot afternoon. They had a swimming pool and huge water slide to help keep everyone cool, but it was still really hot and humid.
this is how we usually find him....

One of Hunter's new tricks is, dumping out a bucket and climbing into it. This picture was taken after he struggled for about 10 minutes pulling out all of his books from the bucket, and then figured out how to climb in it, all while holding his favorite book.
We recently got a new camera, and it seems the only place we can get a good shot is while sitting in his high chair. So we've been doing alot of playing around with it during meal times.  Above and below are a few of the really good ones that we got tonight during dinner.
Oh my, life is tough when your little

This is what we call the "Texas Tornado"
So Hunter has had several nicknames in his short little life. We started with Peanut, then we had Bubba and Hunter Bear, moving onto to Monkey and now the best one yet. Texas Tornado. In a matter of about 5 minutes this is the damage our little Tornado can do.

this is one of my favorite pictures of Hunter so far. Devilish, but super cute. You can almost see the wheels turning in his head. "What can I get into next?"

Hunter found and was in "Love" with this poor little kitty. He was so sweet and loving to this kitty. Nothing else mattered ... Different toys, food, the other kids. Nope just the kitty, and when it was time to leave we had a major melt down.

Mr. Independent

15 months old, and so very independent..... Seems like as soon as he figured out the walking thing, he also figured out that being independent is much cooler than having help. So it's been a struggle, finding a happy medium for all us when it comes to feeding, playing (especially play group activities) and just plane old basic survival.  As you can see in the picture above, that our little boy likes to eat his sandwiches whole, cut up pieces are for babies, I guess....  He loves to use his spoon or fork to eat as well, but only if he is able to hold onto them.  It's just not cool to have Mommy and
Daddy feeding me anymore. He would rather climb up the stairs then being carried up. Closing doors and turning off and on light switches, yep you guessed it... those are his jobs. He's also starting to figure out how to climb on things to get to something else. Makes for interesting days now, chasing this little monkey around. Never a dull moment. There are times each day when I think about how "easy" life was "back then" before we had a crawler/walker, but then I think how fun it is to watch him explore and learn.  Below are just a few photo's of our very independent little Peanut.

Pretty sure the spaghetti won this battle

Looking Cool and ready to go swimming
