A Week Without Daddy .....

So this past week we were without Daddy...... Greg spent the week in St. Louis working on some training stuff for work. Hunter and I had a really good week, even though we both missed Daddy. We managed to get to the gym each morning, kept up with the never ending laundry, took good naps, slept each night (all night), experimented with rice cereal in a bottle right before his afternoon nap ( ahhhh, 2 hour naps are back ) and almost painted a wall in our family room (but thought twice about it without Greg's help- should have just done it, now Greg is questioning my color choice)
We also got Hunter his Bumbo chair while Greg was away. Above is Hunter's first time in his chair. He loves it..... although he doesn't tolerate it for to long, we always get BIG smiles and a few little giggles when we put him it in....
I also got him a Slumber Sack (no more swaddling) and he did amazingly well with sleeping through the night, he got up one night for a few minutes but then went right back down. It's so much easier putting him to bed now without having to swaddle him.... Yeah, for this milestone !!!

No, this is not a crime scene....... On Wednesday afternoon we were playing on the floor, I thought he was watching the dogs play in the front room. NOPE ~ he was sound to sleep !!!!!!

I see you...... I just loved this look on his face.... if he was older, I would have to question his innocence

Can you believe how blue those eyes are... We're still wondering where he got the blue from, since both Greg and I have hazel eyes... He also, has some red tints to his hair as it is slowly turning a light brownish blond color.

It's always better to have both the fingers and the binky in your mouth at the same time.. Right ????
Our first attempt at rice cereal and the spoon... He actually did pretty well, made some pretty goofy faces at first, slowly is getting the hang of it. We're only giving him a tiny amount of cereal each day, as his doctor says nothing but milk until he's 6 months old. But the cereal in his afternoon bottle has made the world of difference in his napping schedule, so I'm totally good with this little experiment.

Just call me "Scooter" I had him on the mat while making dinner the other night and he managed to scoot himself off the mat and into the kitchen, as well as kicking off one of his socks... He's on the move.... watch out !!!!

A little tummy time. He's getting so close to rolling over from his back to tummy. He's figured out that he needs to fling his legs over and go with the flow, but stops on the side... it's going to happen this week, I just know it.....

Here Hunter went from his tummy to his back......

trying SO hard to make it past his arm. I had to work tonight, and Greg called me at work to tell me our little man had figured it out.... That's right, Hunter now can roll from his back to his tummy. I was super excited, but also very sad. I only work about 10 hours a week, and I missed this "first" first. Luckily Greg had the video camera handy and captured the moment for me. My next question was, What's next.........?

Summertime Fun !!!

We forgot to include this picture in our last update, above is Hunter at the Doctor's office for his 4 month check-up. Little did he know, he was about to get his shots. Which he took like a champ and only cried for a split second and was fine after that. He ran a really low fever the next morning for a couple of hours, but bounced right back to his happy little self.
We're having fun this summer ~~~~ despite the wonderful Texas heat and humidity we're finding all kinds of things to keep us all entertained this summer. Hunter is loving his toys more and more each day as he realizes how they work and what he can actually pull towards his mouth. That's his newest trick, everything goes straight for the mouth !!!!!! We've also discovered that he really enjoys story time. And his favorite books are Barney, you can pull one of those books out in the middle of the worst melt down and he becomes the happiest little guy around. ( that's Mommy's newest trick )
Sunday night we grilled out, there was actually a really nice breeze and it was actually bearable out back. So we got the great idea to make S'mores for dessert... YUM-O is all I have to say about that. We haven't done that since Hurricane Ike. The picture above is Hunter relaxing in his stroller on the back porch Sunday night. He was loving it, the cool breeze and watching the birds and the dogs....

The perfect Marshmellow in the works......

Building the perfect S'more ( are you hungry yet?) The yard is looking pretty good, don't you think Grandpa Steffen ????

Daddy showing Hunter what the perfectly toasted Marshmellow looks like. Although, I think Hunter might think his fingers will taste better.

Playtime for the little "king of cute" (that's what his shirt says)

Again, with the fingers in his mouth.

Four Months Old Already !!

Can you believe that Hunter is already four months old? I'm still trying to figure out where the time has gone. Hunter went to the doctor on Monday for his 4 month wellness check, and he is doing amazing. He now weights 14.11 which puts him in the 50th percentile, and is 25 1/2 inches long- 75th percentile. We've had a lot of new developments over the past month.
~ Hunter has discovered his fist does fit in his mouth if he works at it long enough.
~ Hunter will grab at anything and hang on for dear life. This includes- hair, glasses, jewelry, shirts, fingers and his binky ( just a little warning for his grandma's and grandpa's watch out for your glasses )
~Hunter now can roll from his tummy back to his back, and is getting very close to figuring out how to get past his arm while trying to roll onto his tummy.
~Changing diapers or clothes has now become an Olympic event- or should I say maybe like a cafe roping contest, in which Hunter finds it rather funny to keep wiggling around and pulling his legs out of his shorts faster than you can put them in.....
~He's become very attached to either Greg or I ( who ever is around him more) and will now cry if we move out of his sight.
Overall, everyday is a new adventure full of surprises for us, and we love it....
We got Hunter a new exer-saucer toy last weekend, and he is slowly starting to like it. He is able to stand-up in it and bounce around to all the different toys placed around his chair. These two pictures were taken the afternoon we brought it home for him, so he is really unsure of what to think.

Hunter has figured out how to hold his bottle on his own. (when he'll take the bottle that is)

Hunter is sporting his very stylish sunglasses given to him by his Aunt Linda (thank you) we had to model them before hitting the pool in Houston.

Daddy already has big plans for Monday night Football......
Luckily his only fixed on "his" bottle ~ although, the little smile has me concerned....

We're still a month or so away from football and Daddy is already testing the waters......

Holiday Weekend in Houston

On The Road Again..... just can't wait to get on the road again.....
Road Trip....We hit the road for the long July 4th weekend and headed to Houston. It had been 2 months since we had been there, and we "all" were feeling a little "homesick". It amazes me how often we spoke about moving out of Houston, and then when we finally get to the opportunity, we can't wait to go back... Crazy !!!! We ran into some pretty bad rain when we got to Houston, so we had to wait it out in the truck ~ Hence the picture above, we were trying to keep Hunter happy while it poured cats and dogs outside.

We found sometime to meet up with friends at Panera Bread and have breakfast. I'm sad that the only picture we took that morning was with Mike, I had planned on getting a picture with everyone (sorry guys, we'll be back in September and we be taking pictures,so get your smiles ready :)~

Our main reason for leaving San Antonio and heading to Houston was to get away from all the noise of the fireworks. Our neighborhood was crazy with fireworks on New Year's and we knew that Hunter and the rest of the family would not be happy at home on July 4th. So we spent a relaxing day at the Janney's house and enjoyed a good BBQ and some pool time. When we got back to the hotel we realized that the city of Clear Lake was shooting their fireworks off right above our Hotel. We stepped outside to see, and had the perfect view of a good show. Better yet, no traffic or crowds to deal with. Hunter actually enjoyed watching the fireworks, it wasn't until the grand finale that the noise was starting to get to him. Overall, it was a great day and we enjoyed our first 4th of July with our little Hunter.

Chillin poolside and a good dip in the pool !!!!!

Not so sure about the cool water, and no bubbles like his bath, but he did a good job and like bobbing in the water. He's going to be a water baby just like his mommy. We tried to get Daddy in the pool with us, but he was having way to much fun manning the BBQ grill.....
